Tickets and a bus trip are available for Cocoa High football fans interested in attending Thursday’s Class 4A football championship in Orlando.

The bus will leave Thursday from the school at 5 p.m. for the game at 7. The price for a seat on the bus plus a ticket to the game is $25 and can be purchased in the high school office from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Individual game tickets will be available in the Cocoa office Tuesday and Wednesday during those hours. They will cost $12 there or $15 at the gate on game day. T-shirts are also on sale in the office for $10.
Cocoa Tigers following consistent through football program’s run
Cocoa will face Jacksonville Bolles for the 4A title. The Tigers previously won state championships from 2008 through 2010. The Tigers (10-1) earned their spot in the final with a 24-21 win over four-time defending champion Miami Booker T. Washington on Nov. 25 at Cocoa Stadium.

Melbourne’s Smith tops scorers at ODP soccer event
Bryson Smith of Melbourne High boys soccer was the top scorer for the Region III team over the weekend at the U.S. Youth Soccer Florida International tournament at Lakewood Ranch High in Bradenton.
Smith scored four goals to lead his team, and that was double the number scored by any other player in the Olympic Development Program tournament. The Region III team went 1-1-1 in the three-day event, finishing as the runner-up. Smith scored the team’s only goal in a 6-1 loss to Region I in the final game.

Winn helps college to rugby title
Cocoa Beach graduate Chick Winn scored a try Sunday to help Notre Dame College to a 39-17 win over Bowling Green in the fall championship of USA Rugby Men’s Division IAA at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
The Falcons earned the right to face the spring champion on May 6 for the national title. The Falcons were last year’s fall runners-up.
Winn scored in the 60th minute for a 34-3 lead. Notre Dame College is in South Euclid, Ohio.
Bulldogs seeking coaches
Melbourne High is looking for coaches in three spring sports.
Applicants are invited for head junior varsity baseball and softball coaches as well as an assistant track and field coach. Those interested should contact athletic director Fred Keeney at keeney.fred@brevardschools.org.
