Following a 41-6 win over Orlando Jones on Friday, the Tigers (4-1) received 13 of 16 first-place votes. They visit Astronaut on Friday, Week 9 of the high school football season.

Palm Bay (6-0) remained No. 4 in Class 5A voting. The Pirates host 5-2 Merritt Island on Friday in the game that will determine the leader in the District 14-5A standings. The Mustangs were listed among teams receiving votes in the poll but not enough to make the top 10. Plantation American Heritage was 5A’s No. 1 team.

Last week, Palm Bay won at Space Coast, 45-0. Merritt Island has won four games in a row.

Viera moved up a spot in the 7A rankings to No. 9, and St. Thomas Aquinas kept the No. 1 spot. The Hawks (5-2), with a 55-24 win over Martin County last week, put themselves into the top spot in District 6-7A.

In Class 3A, where Oxbridge Academy was No. 1, Melbourne Central Catholic received votes but not enough to crack the top five. The Hustlers clinched the District 6-3A title with a 52-7 win over John Carroll last week.

The rest of the No. 1 teams were Apopka in Class 8A, Mainland of 6A, Cambridge Christian in 2A and Madison County (1).
