At Boardwalk Bowl, Koehler overcame a pulled muscle and blisters on her bowling hand to finish second to Leanna Vastbinder of Circle Christian. Vastbinder, the 2014 champion, had been the top qualifier for the 16-player championship bracket, shooting 267, 205, 258 and 229 in qualifying rounds.

Koehler qualified seventh with games of 215, 223, 178 and 237. She won her first three matches in bracket play but then dropped into consolation with a semifinal loss to Vastbinder. Koehler then won the consolation title and earned her rematch.

Koehler, a senior, is a two-time FLORIDA TODAY Girls Bowler of the Year. Her younger sisters, Monique and Jacklyn, also bowled for Rockledge in the field of 222 girls vying for 16 bracket spots. Monique Koehler finished 17th, seven pins away from qualifying, and Jacklyn was 25th, 35 pins from 16th place.

No Brevard boys made the individual bracket this year. Bayside’s boys team was eliminated from bracket play on Thursday morning, while Rockledge and Titusville girls teams both made it to at least the fourth round of consolation play but were eliminated.
