Class 7A regional semifinal
Last week: The Tigers, who were the district runners-up, won at District 5 winner Lake Nona, 35-14. The Hawks defeated District 5 runner-up East River, 41-0 in the regional quarterfinal round. Last year, Viera won this regional semifinal matchup, 47-17.
Game notes: Viera defeated Martin County in a District 6-7A game, 55-24 on Oct. 14.
Winner gets: Winner of Lakeland at Plant
Bishop Moore (10-1) at Palm Bay (10-0)
Class 5A regional semifinal
Last week: The Hornets, the District 13 winners, beat Merritt Island, 21-19, after trailing 10-0. The Pirates, the District 14 champions, beat Eustis, 49-10.
Game notes: Bishop Moore eliminated Palm Bay in last year’s regional quarterfinal round, 38-7, on the way to winning the Class 5A championship. That was the last loss for the Pirates. The Hornets won at Eustis on Oct. 23, 42-14.
Winner gets: Winner of Cardinal Gibbons at Plantation American Heritage
Judson leads all-district football team
Orlando Jones (10-1) at Cocoa (8-1)
Class 4A regional final
Last week: Jones, also the Tigers, won at District 6 champion, Avon Park, 27-16. The Cocoa Tigers blanked Bishop Verot, the Disrict 6 runner-up, 64-0.
Game notes: Cocoa has won nine consecutive regional championships. In the regular season, Cocoa defeated Jones at Cocoa Stadium, 41-6 on Oct. 14. That was the only loss for the Orlando-based team.
Winner gets: Winner of Miami Edison at Miami Washington
Clearwater Central Catholic (9-1) at Melbourne Central Catholic (10-0)
Class 3A regional final
Last week: The Marauders defeated District 6 runner-up John Carroll, 42-17. The Hustlers beat District 5 runner-up Cardinal Mooney, 56-34.
Game notes: MCC has never advanced beyond the regional final round. CCC, the District 5 winner, has advanced to at least the 3A state semifinals the last four years and was the state runner-up in 2013.
