Logan Folsom of Melbourne (11) drives past Blanche Ely player Jamari Smith (2) during the Class 7A state basketball final in Lakeland.

Melbourne High’s Logan Folsom was one of two players on his team and one of four from Brevard County recognized by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches on all-state teams announced this week in coordination with Source Hoops.

Folsom was on the five-member Class 7A first team, while Noah Horchler, also a Bulldogs senior, made the third team. In February, the pair helped lead Melbourne to its second state tournament appearance. Folsom also played for the school’s first state-tournament team in 2014.

In the state semifinal game, Folsom led a comeback effort that fell just short against eventual state titlist Blanche Ely, 62-59. Folsom led the Bulldogs with 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Horchler scored 14 and grabbed a team-high 11 boards.

On Wednesday, both signed with Eastern Florida State College.

Titusville’s Shevelle Bailey earned third-team recognition in Class 5A. The senior helped the Terriers to their third consecutive playoff appearance this year. Last year, he was a member of Titusville’s first district championship team in 25 years. Bailey recently signed with McCook (Neb.) Community College after averaging 10.7 points and eight rebounds this season.

Josh Porteus of Holy Trinity was the fourth honoree from Brevard. Porteus, third-team in 4A, led the Tigers to their second consecutive appearance in the state tournament, where Holy Trinity finished as the state runner-up. For the season, Porteus averaged 16.4 points and 5.2 assists.
